Rangers Football Club entered negotiations to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Couhaib Driouech following the rejection of an initial €7.5 million bid. While clubs including Celta Vigo, Red Bull Salzburg, and Burnley showed interest, Rangers prepared an improved offer and discussed personal terms with the 24-year-old Moroccan international. By August 10, the transfer was nearing completion, valued at approximately €8 million. However, by August 13, the proposed transfer collapsed. Although initial reports suggested paperwork delays, the move failed after an injury was discovered during the medical process. Despite Rangers reaching an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for a fee between £6.5 million and £7 million, the deal did not materialize. Following the collapse, Rangers faced criticism from Dutch media. Journalist Rik Elfrink described the club’s conduct as “inhumane,” alleging that Rangers abandoned the deal due to a disagreement regarding the length of a potential injury while the player was already at the stadium. Reports later specified that Rangers declined the transfer due to concerns regarding a thigh injury that might require a six-week rehabilitation period. By August 23, Celta Vigo had reached a verbal agreement with PSV Eindhoven to sign Driouech for a fee between €7 million and €8 million. While Rangers withdrew due to concerns over a muscle injury, PSV and Celta Vigo maintained the injury was minor. The winger was left out of PSV’s squad for their match against FC Groningen to facilitate the move. On August 25, Celta Vigo officially announced the signing of Driouech from PSV Eindhoven. The 24-year-old signed a contract running until June 2030 for a transfer fee of approximately €7 million. The club described him as a versatile attacker whose speed and one-on-one abilities suit manager Claudio Giráldez’s tactical style.
