During the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, Turkish, Azerbaijani, and Turkish Cypriot officials have continued to advance specific geopolitical agendas through extensive diplomatic activities. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has maintained a focus on the Palestinian struggle and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting the increasing international isolation of Israel. He has emphasized President Erdoğan’s call for the recognition of the State of Palestine and highlighted Israel’s occupation and annexation policies. Fidan has conducted over 40 meetings, continuing discussions regarding the Gaza Peace Plan. President Erdoğan’s address was characterized as a manifesto for Türkiye’s global vision, centering on regional stability. In the South Caucasus, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov reported that peace initiatives are transforming the region into a hub for stability and economic connectivity. Regarding the status of Northern Cyprus, TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu has continued to advocate for a ‘one island, two states’ solution and an end to international embargoes. Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to address the Cyprus issue. Erhürman denied allegations that he rejected a proposed tripartite meeting with Guterres and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides. He stated that the Turkish Cypriot side has accepted six of the seven confidence-building measures proposed by the UN, such as demining and joint emergency response, though he maintained that the current proposal for crossing points is ‘not acceptable in its present form.’
