Red Hot Chili Peppers festival controversy in Argentina

Overview

Initial reports indicated that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would headline the Music Gol Festival at the Estadio Rosario Central in Argentina on June 12, 2027.

However, the situation evolved into a controversy after the band officially denied the performance. Responding to social media promotions, the group stated, ‘Lo sentimos, nosotros no’ (Sorry, it is not us). Following this denial, Rosario Central threatened to cancel the event and is pursuing legal action against the producer, Underdog Argentina, regarding a 50% advance payment. Major sponsors have also distanced themselves from the announcement.

Further developments revealed that other acts listed in the lineup, including Happy Mondays, also denied their participation. In response to the misinformation, Rosario Central stated it requires official contracts to proceed and intends to cancel the event to prevent potential scams. Additionally, financial sponsor Banco Macro has formally distanced itself from the organization and removed all related promotional content.
