Regional comedy and theatre festivals

Overview

In mid-September 2026, several comedy and theatre festivals were held across the Balkan region.

In Croatia, the 16th edition of Komedija fest, an international amateur comedy festival, took place in Bjelovar from September 17 to 27, featuring troupes from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia. Simultaneously, the 11th Days of Laughter (Dani smijeha) was held in Vukovar through September 19, featuring domestic comedy performances and a book promotion.

Following these events, the 29th international ‘Days of Comedy’ festival was scheduled to take place in Kumánovo, Macedonia, from September 23 to October 5. The festival, hosted at the Trajko Prokopev Cultural Center, featured ten theatrical performances from Macedonia and the surrounding region. The event included a jury to present various awards and a non-competitive performance to honor laureate Igor Dzambazov.
