Regional public health and pest management in Greece

Overview

In mid-October 2026, authorities in Central Greece scheduled mosquito control interventions and spraying operations across Phthiotis, Boeotia, Euboea, and Phocis to manage mosquito populations.

By late October, regional programs expanded to include veterinary and agricultural measures. In Messinia, the Directorate of Rural Economy and Veterinary Medicine scheduled bait spraying to manage agricultural pests, advising olive growers and beekeepers to take precautions. Simultaneously, the Imathia Regional Unit launched an aerial rabies vaccination campaign using aircraft to distribute vaccine baits to wildlife in areas such as Naousa and Polyplatanos.
