Regional summer youth youth, sports, and sports cultural programs
Summer programs and youth initiatives across Latin America and Europe have continued to conclude or expand. In Mexico, municipal governments in Cuautlancingo, Apizaco, and Quintana Roo completed courses in sports, culture, and health, with some programs providing free orthopedic supplies or identifying athletic talent. In Chiapas, Indeporte hosted 300 youths for disciplines including swimming, boxing, and soccer, while the Instituto Municipal del Deporte de Ahome completed its first aquatic camp for 28 children in Los Mochis. In Morelia, the ‘Conecta +’ forum engaged over 2,000 young people, and the Imcufide ‘Verano de Campeon@s’ program provided gymnastics and swimming to approximately 800 children. In Spain and Andorra, regional authorities have reported high participation in summer programming. In Formentera, the Escola d’Estiu 2026 hosted 163 children in arts, sports, and cooking workshops. Castellón reached over 5,000 students through youth activities and psychological health programs, while Las Rozas recorded 5,279 participants in social solidarity and youth club projects. In Andalusia, the Federación Andaluza de Vela’s sailing school saw a record 1,300 students. In Andorra la Vella, the third edition of the Curulla program provided 36 young people with professional experience in public administration. Spanish municipalities are increasingly focusing on specialized services and governance. In Getxo, Langreo, the Gaztebulegoa youth office has increased resources to provide guidance on employment, housing, and entrepreneurship. Recent efforts have also shifted toward participatory governance; Gestalgar Municipal Theatre School is developing starting a four-year Municipal Plan new term for Childhood, Adolescence, and Youth, while Palma participants aged 6 to 30. In Valencia, the Alquería de Gandia has activated Félix is reopening to the public, preserving silk-producing heritage. Other regional developments include a revitalization program for its Local Council for Childhood sign language course in Aguilar de la Frontera to promote accessibility, the ‘Castellar Dialoga’ workshop in Castellar de la Frontera to involve youth in municipal decisions, and Adolescence (CLIA).
