Release and streaming success of Love of Your Life

Overview

The romantic drama ‘Love of Your Life’, directed by Rachel Morrison and produced by Ryan Gosling, transitioned from a limited theatrical release to a global streaming debut on Prime Video on October 14, 2026.

Starring Margaret Qualley as Maya, a 20-something emergency room nurse in Boston, the film depicts her six-year journey of grief and self-discovery following the loss of her partner, Charlie (Gabriel Basso), during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Maya navigates her recovery, the narrative follows her travels to locations including Portugal, London, and Japan. The story explores her decision to embrace love again after meeting Felix (Aaron Pierre).

Following its release, the film has become a hit on Prime Video, reaching the top of streaming charts in several regions. Critics have praised Qualley’s performance, with some describing it as a “career-defining role.” While the film is a work of fiction developed by writer Julia Cox, it draws on the real-world experiences of healthcare workers during the pandemic to explore themes of loss, guilt, and emotional recovery. The ensemble cast also includes Patrick Schwarzenegger and Catherine Keener.
