Release of film OM: Chapter 1

Overview

The pan-Indian action drama ‘OM: Chapter 1 - The Blood Moon’ (also referred to as ‘OM: Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood’) is scheduled for theatrical release on November 20, 2026. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film marks the first on-screen collaboration between actors Dhanush and Mammootty.

The release date was moved from its original October 2026 slot to avoid direct competition with Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’ and to stay clear of the Diwali festival window, which would have seen a clash with Suriya’s film ‘Scene’. Dhanush indicated the postponement was made out of respect for Rajinikanth and to support the film industry.

The ensemble cast includes Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah, and Indrans. The project is produced under Wunderbar Films and presented by RTake Studios, with Shraddha Agrawal noting the film aims to connect different industries through emotion and grandeur.
