Release and box office success of Der perfekte Urlaub

Overview

The comedy film ‘Der perfekte Urlaub’, directed by Bora Dagtekin, officially premiered in German cinemas on October 22. Serving as a sequel to the 2019 film ‘Das perfekte Geheimnis’, the story follows an ensemble of friends on a trip to Mallorca where interpersonal conflicts, affairs, and secrets emerge.

Following the initial premiere in Munich, the film’s promotional tour continued through Vienna and Cologne, eventually concluding with a premiere at the Zoo Palast in Berlin. During the Berlin event, actor Frederick Lau attended the red carpet with his wife, Annika Lau. Throughout the promotional activities, lead actor Elyas M’Barek discussed the production and the film’s setting in the Ballermann tourist area, noting that despite filming there for four months, he had personally never visited the area before.

Since its release, the film has achieved the most successful German cinema opening of 2026, securing the top spot on both German and Austrian box office charts. Including previews, the movie has already sold 535,000 tickets. The plot, set seven years after the events of the first installment, follows four men—Leo, Pepe, Rocco, and Simon—who encounter a group of women in the same villa during their vacation.

The ensemble cast includes Elyas M’Barek, Florian David Fitz, Wotan Wilke Möhring, Frederick Lau, Jessica Schwarz, Karoline Herfurth, Jella Haase, and newcomer Diana Amft.
