Release of Netflix series Shaque

Overview

The Netflix crime thriller series ‘Shaque: Trust No One’, directed by Rensil D’Silva and co-created with Siddharth P Malhotra, features Parineeti Chopra in her streaming debut. The plot follows Anvita, a mother searching for her daughter who was abducted from a hospital nine years earlier, alongside her husband Alok. The ensemble cast includes Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Soni Razdan, and Harleen Sethi.

Following the series premiere, critical reception has been mixed. While some viewers and critics have praised the series’ emotional core and the strong performances of the ensemble cast, others have criticized the directorial style as “muted” despite a pulpy premise involving themes of black magic and illegal medical practices.

Raghav Chadha has publicly praised the seven-episode psychological thriller, stating in a social media post that the suspense intensifies with every episode and noting that Chopra “truly lived the character.” Regarding her transition to the format, Chopra expressed a desire to participate in ‘binge-watching culture’ and noted that her recent work in ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ helped revitalize interest in her career.
