Religious observances in Europe

Overview

Religious communities in Switzerland, Germany, and Italy are organizing various spiritual observances and commemorative events for October 2026.

In Switzerland, preparations include the Catholic Church’s upcoming World Mission Sunday, which focuses on global interconnectedness and international projects in healthcare and education. Additionally, the sanctuaries of Madonna del Sasso and Madonna dei Miracoli in Morbio Inferiore are participating in a spiritual twinning initiative featuring a statue procession and religious reenactments.

In Germany, religious themes center on the Harvest Festival, the Reformation, and Repentance and Prayer Day, emphasizing reflection and community support. In Italy, the Santa Maria Greca Parish in Corato is celebrating its first centennial with a Franciscan Parish Mission themed ‘Remain in me… open to the world’ to foster missionary vocation.
