Remedy Entertainment Control Resonant release
Overview
Prior to the release of the action RPG Control Resonant, director Mikael Kasurinen detailed the game’s design philosophy. He noted that the development team intentionally avoided visual cues like “yellow paint” or flashing arrows to guide players, aiming instead to foster player agency so that players feel like they are “the ones figuring it out.” Kasurinen acknowledged this approach might alienate players preferring guided experiences but argued it creates a more rewarding environment for exploration.
Following these design insights, Remedy Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive released Control Resonant. Set seven years after the original Control, the game follows Dylan Faden as he navigates a paranormal crisis in Manhattan where the laws of physics no longer function. The gameplay shifts focus toward melee combat and features surreal, reality-bending environments. The title exists within the same interconnected universe as Alan Wake 2 and Quantum Break, and includes 50 PlayStation trophies.
