Republika Srpska social benefit and salary adjustments

Overview

In late October 2026, officials in Republika Srpska announced several financial adjustments scheduled for early 2027. Mladen Milić, director of the PIO Fund, announced a regular pension increase of between 7.5% and 8% for January, driven by rising living costs and average salaries.

Following this, Milorad Dodik, leader of the SNSD, announced a 10% salary increase for education workers at all levels, effective January 1, 2027. While the education union welcomed the move, its president, Dragan Gnjatić, stated it was the “absolute minimum required” and warned that inflation might negate the benefits. Local communities were also encouraged to implement similar increases for preschool employees.
