RHINOSHIELD and the British aerospace company Sent Into Space collaborated to set a Guinness World Record by dropping an iPhone from the stratosphere. The device, an iPhone 17 Pro Max protected by a RHINOSHIELD AirX case, was released from a high-altitude balloon at an altitude of approximately 30,607 meters over Kiruna, Sweden.

During a 25-minute free fall, the smartphone endured extreme conditions, including temperatures as low as -60°C and atmospheric pressure at roughly 1% of sea level. To satisfy Guinness World Record requirements, the phone was dropped without a parachute, thermal containers, or additional cushioning systems, ensuring the case made the initial contact with the ground. The device’s terminal velocity during the descent was estimated to be between 50 and 160 km/h due to air resistance.

Following a five-hour search in a forested area, the device was recovered from the Swedish wilderness. Verification by Guinness World Records confirmed the smartphone remained fully functional, noting it could power on and off, make calls, and operate its camera functions correctly, with no significant external structural damage reported.
