Richard Norton death investigation

Overview

A Victorian state coroner has concluded that the death of 75-year-old Australian actor and martial artist Richard Norton was caused by an anaphylactic reaction. Norton died on March 30, 2025, following a cardiac arrest.

Coroner David Ryan determined that the fatal reaction was triggered by the injection of CJC-1295 and ipamorelin, two substances used for anti-aging and muscle recovery. Although these peptides were prescribed by a doctor, they lack approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). The investigation found that Norton had been administering double the prescribed dose to address fatigue and physical recovery.

The case is believed to be the first confirmed fatality in Australia linked to unapproved peptides. Following the findings, the coroner recommended that the TGA review the safety and therapeutic benefits of these substances and consider stricter regulations, such as limiting their use to clinical trials or experimental settings.
