Overview

In late March, rising waters in Taquara forced the evacuation of more than 50 residents from the Santa Maria neighbourhood after the Rio Paranhana surged past 5.5 m. Families were taken to a temporary shelter at the Association of Motorists, which was later deactivated once the river receded.

A month later, heavy rain pushed the Rio Caí in São Sebastião do Caí above its flood threshold, reaching 12.25 m on 29 April.
