The humanitarian crisis following a magnitude 5.2 glacier collapse and ice-rock landslide in Nepal has intensified significantly. While earlier reports estimated deaths approaching 475, the death toll has since climbed to 1,365, with thousands still missing. The Bhotekoshi River has destroyed homes, infrastructure, and hydropower projects. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs reported that 288 Indian citizens remain untraceable, including workers from the Trishuli-1 power project and participants in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
