RNLI lifeboat station fundraising efforts
Overview
Various RNLI lifeboat stations in the United Kingdom have received financial support through corporate partnerships and charitable events. Peel RNLI received a £3,750 donation from Seaboard Trading to assist with lifesaving operations, equipment, and volunteer training.
In Salcombe, a charity dinner at the Royal Thames Yacht Club raised over £400,000, sponsored by the Baltic Exchange Charitable Foundation. These funds are intended for a new Shannon Class all-weather lifeboat to be named ‘Baltic Exchange IV’.
Following these events, the Salcombe and Kingsbridge RNLI launched a specific £450,000 appeal to help fund the £2.7 million vessel. The Baltic Exchange has committed £1.25 million toward the cost, and approximately £1 million has been secured through personal donations and legacies. Philip Ward, Chair of Fundraising for Salcombe and Kingsbridge RNLI, stated that the fundraising target is a significant increase from the station’s typical average of £250,000 and noted that funds raised over the coming 12 to 18 months will be directed specifically to the local station.
