Rob Zweekhorst murder investigation

In August 2026, Dutch police initiated a search in the Ringvaartplas in Rotterdam-Prinsenland to locate a firearm potentially used in the 2014 murder of Rob Zweekhorst. The investigation, referred to as the ‘Berkelse vergismoord’, follows the acquittal of a suspect in June 2026 due to insufficient evidence.

Specialists utilized scans and manual searches to locate objects on the lakebed. Authorities are also investigating a report from a man who claimed to have retrieved a weapon from the lake last year. A reward of 25,000 euros is currently offered for information leading to the perpetrator’s arrest.
