Robert F. Kennedy Jr. public statements and activities

Overview

U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has made several public remarks and attended personal events. In October 2026, Kennedy shared accounts regarding alleged secret programs involving the recovery of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). He stated that during the 2024 presidential transition, he was approached by a group including a high-level NASA scientist and members of U.S. special forces who claimed to be tasked with locating and recovering crashed UFOs. Kennedy noted he did not personally witness these operations but received the information from these third parties.

Later in the month, during a Republican campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, while supporting Senate candidate Mike Rogers, Kennedy made claims regarding the Arab world. He asserted that 500 million Arabs do not “produce science,” “win the Nobel Prize,” “win the Fields Prize,” “win the Wolf Prize,” or “produce literature.” He linked these assertions to criticisms of the Muslim Brotherhood, which he described as a “death cult” that created stagnant societies immersed in ideologies of “victimization, of murder, of genocide.” He argued the group’s ideology destroyed previous traditions of scholarship.

Following these remarks, Kennedy faced widespread condemnation from civil rights groups, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Democratic officials, and academic experts, who described his statements as racist, bigoted, and Islamophobic. Senator Chris Murphy criticized the remarks as part of a coordinated campaign to delegitimize Muslim Americans, noting that several Arab-descended individuals have won the prizes Kennedy cited. In a defense on X, Kennedy clarified that his remarks were not a critique of Arabs or Islam, but an attack on Islamism, which he characterized as a toxic ideology that suppresses the scientific method and intellectualism.
