To commemorate the 120th anniversary of the birth of Italian filmmaker Roberto Rossellini, a global retrospective titled ‘Roberto Rossellini Prefers Real Life’ has been organized in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture, Cinecittà, and various international institutions.

The celebration begins at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival with a 4K restoration of the 1954 film ‘Viaggio in Italia’. The retrospective will subsequently expand to the United States, featuring screenings at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles starting November 4, inaugurated by Isabella Rossellini, and at the Film Forum in New York starting November 20.

The program highlights Rossellini’s role in pioneering Italian Neorealism and his influence on the French New Wave, featuring restored works such as ‘Roma città aperta’, ‘Paisà’, and ‘Germania anno zero’.
