Santos FC authorized attacker Robinho Jr. to travel to Europe to resolve bureaucratic matters, including work visas and personal documentation, to facilitate a potential transfer. The player traveled to Italy to regularize his Italian passport and dual citizenship through his mother. While several European clubs, including Spanish sides Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano, expressed interest in the player, Genoa reached a verbal agreement with Santos to sign the 18-year-old attacker on a one-season loan.
