Rocket Lab business expansion and Neutron development

Rocket Lab is expanding its international presence and developing its Neutron medium-lift rocket. The company established Rocket Lab Germany GmbH in Munich to serve as a manufacturing hub for satellites and components following its acquisition of Mynaric AG. This subsidiary is intended to enable scaled domestic production and provide launch services for the Electron and Neutron rockets, positioning the company to compete within the European launch market.

Regarding the Neutron program, the inaugural flight faces potential delays. While the company has reached “significant milestones across the Neutron program,” the launch window may slip from late 2026 into 2027 depending on first-stage qualification and critical testing. Rocket Lab is currently working toward a fourth-quarter 2026 delivery of the Stage 1 tank to the launch pad, prioritizing a design optimized for rapid reusability and high-cadence operations.

In its second-quarter earnings report, Rocket Lab saw revenue rise 62% year-over-year to $234 million, exceeding analyst estimates and narrowing its net loss to $0.08 per share. However, the stock experienced volatility following cautious comments from CEO Peter Beck regarding the Neutron timeline.

Kepler Communications has formalized its commitment to the Neutron rocket by booking its first dedicated commercial launch, targeted for no earlier than 2028. This mission will deploy a batch of new satellites to low Earth orbit to expand Kepler’s infrastructure, including optical connectivity and on-orbit computing. The dedicated launch, which will launch from Rocket Lab’s Launch Complex 3 on Wallops Island, Virginia, allows the company direct control over orbital placement and mission timing.
