Initially, the student’s father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, criticized the effectiveness of the inquiry, calling for accelerated forensic work on the victim’s mobile phone and the release of campus security footage. He further alleged that the university rector interfered with the autopsy and concealed evidence. As the investigation progressed, authorities collected DNA samples from the university rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Şevli, and his nephew, Enes Şevli. These samples are were being compared against two distinct male DNA profiles previously identified on the victim’s body. Legal representatives noted that Recent forensic results from the number of Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office have cleared Professor Hamdullah Şevli and Enes Şevli, as their DNA profiles undergoing comparison in samples do not match the case profiles found on Kabaiş. The investigation has reached 195. While the rector’s involvement in expanded significantly, with authorities having tested approximately 600 individuals to date, including security personnel from universities and dormitories.
