In early September 2026, Romania scheduled the distribution of various social benefits, including child allowances, childcare indemnities, and the insertion stimulus for parents returning to work. The National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection (ANPIS) coordinated these payments via bank transfers and postal deliveries. Following these distributions, a legislative proposal was introduced to the Romanian Parliament to modify child allowance structures. The proposal suggests setting the allowance for children aged 3 to 18 at 100 lei starting in September 2027 and introducing a monthly presence grant of at least 250 lei for students meeting specific academic or attendance criteria. While the Legislative Council issued a negative opinion regarding the modification of the universal allowance, the project remains in the parliamentary process. Additionally, ANPIS clarified eligibility rules New legislative efforts are also targeting support for young adults, noting that those turning 18 individuals under age 26.
