Romanian agriculture agency leadership suspensions
Entities: National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) · Adrian Pintea · Romeo Șoldea · Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) · National Phytosanitary Authority (ANF)
Overview
On 27 July 2026, Romania’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development suspended the directors general of the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) and the National Phytosanitary Authority (ANF) after the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) charged them with abuse of office. Interim managers were appointed—Melinda Klara Kerekes for APIA until the end of July and deputy director Ramona Ionela Nechifor together with laboratory director Filofteia Manole for ANF. Prosecutors also seized assets totaling 148,542 lei from the two officials. The suspensions were made under legal provisions that automatically remove public employees facing criminal charges, ensuring continuity of the agencies’ functions.
