Romanian road infrastructure winter preparations

Overview

In mid-October 2026, infrastructure maintenance and seasonal preparations began in the Timișoara region. The Municipal Roads Society (SDM) scheduled repairs for streets, sidewalks, and bridges, while the Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges (DRDP) Timișoara started installing winter-specific signage on the A1 motorway to prepare for changing weather conditions.

By late October, road maintenance authorities in Botoșani and Caraș-Severin finalized operational plans for the 2026-2027 winter season. Botoșani prepared 73 pieces of equipment and significant stocks of salt and sand across seven strategic locations. In Caraș-Severin, authorities approved a plan utilizing 75 blade-equipped vehicles and spreaders, supported by 13 snow removal bases and additional supplies to be secured through CNAIR contracts.
