Romanian road authorities prepare for winter 2026-2027 season

Road maintenance authorities in Botoșani and Caraș-Severin have finalized operational plans to manage national road networks during the upcoming 2026-2027 winter season.

In Botoșani, the plan involves 73 pieces of equipment, including multifunctional machines, dump trucks, and snowplows. Operations will be organized through seven strategic locations, including bases in Botoșani, Dorohoi, and Ștefănești. The county has prepared stocks of 6,000 tons of salt and approximately 1,279 tons of sand, along with calcium chloride, to combat ice and snow.

In Caraș-Severin, the regional directorate has approved a plan utilizing 75 blade-equipped vehicles and spreaders, supplemented by 25 heavy vehicles and 49 auxiliary machines. The strategy relies on 13 snow removal bases and five support points. While current stocks include 3,225 tons of salt and 40 tons of calcium chloride, additional supplies will be secured through CNAIR contracts to meet estimated needs.
