Romanian telecommunications price projections
Overview
Telecommunications, internet, and cable subscription costs in Romania are projected to rise starting in 2027. Major operators, including Orange and Vodafone, possess the legal right to index prices based on inflation rates.
Estimates indicate that while prices expressed in euros may rise by at least 6%, the actual cost to consumers in lei could increase by 7.5% to 10%. In scenarios involving a depreciation of the leu, total increases could reach between 12% and 13%. This is attributed to operators applying Romanian inflation indices to euro-denominated tariffs and the impact of exchange rate fluctuations during local currency conversion.
Orange România is also performing technical migrations for its fixed fiber optic internet services, moving customers from 'Fibră 500' plans to 'Fibră 600' offerings.
