Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign

Overview

The Royal Canadian Legion has launched its 2026 National Poppy Campaign, which coincides with the organization’s 100th anniversary. The initiative continues to raise funds for veterans and their families to address essential needs such as food, heating, clothing, medication, housing, and mental health support.

This year’s campaign features new digital and contactless donation methods. Through a partnership with Toucan Giving and support from BMO, supporters can now use debit cards, credit cards, or digital wallets via tap-on-phone technology. This follows previous digital expansions, such as a partnership with Amazon Canada to facilitate home delivery of poppies.

Local activities have commenced across various regions. In Penticton, British Columbia, the campaign began with the presentation of the first poppy to the outgoing mayor, while in Whitehorse, the Yukon, the launch took place at the Commissioner’s residence. During several local ceremonies, moments of silence were observed to honor members of the Canadian Armed Forces who recently died during a training exercise fire in Wainwright, Alberta. The campaign will continue through November 11, culminating in the National Remembrance Day Ceremony.
