Rui Hachimura transition to Los Angeles Clippers
Overview
Following his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers, forward Rui Hachimura has joined the Los Angeles Clippers. During the Clippers’ Media Day at the Intuit Dome, the organization addressed recent challenges, including an NBA investigation that resulted in the loss of five future first-round picks.
Hachimura, who previously played for the Lakers from 2023 to 2026, expressed a readiness to adapt to a new system and seek increased offensive responsibilities. His move to the Clippers also marks a historic milestone, as he and Yuki Kawamura become the first Japanese teammates in the NBA.
In his first appearance at Crypto.com Arena as a member of the Clippers, Hachimura received a standing ovation from Lakers fans. While his previous role involved playing a complementary part to stars such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis, he is now focused on expanding his repertoire within the Clippers' roster.
