Overview

In late August 2026, Airbnb and the German Tourism Association (DTV) launched the ‘NaturMomente’ project competition. This initiative provides one million euros to support innovative and sustainable tourism in sparsely populated and structurally weak rural areas.

Following this, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism introduced the ‘Regional Future Perspectives in Tourism’ program. This initiative features a 500,000 euro budget intended to support projects that foster regional cooperation and improve quality of life in tourism-heavy areas. Part of the ‘Vision T’ strategic program, the Austrian initiative aims to balance economic value with the needs of local residents and municipalities to address tensions caused by infrastructure pressure and rising housing costs.
