Russian missile/drone attacks and eastern advances intensify

The large‑scale air assault campaign of coordinated missile and drone attacks that began on the night of 11 July 2026 continued with coordinated missile and drone waves that struck Kyiv, Sumy, Odessa, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Kherson, killing at least eight civilians and injuring dozens. President Zelensky repeatedly called for more Patriot‑type air‑defence systems as Russia deployed ballistic missiles that largely evaded interception. On to expand. The next massive wave struck on the night of 29 July, hitting Kryvyj Rih, Kyiv, Poltava and other cities. Six people, including two children, were killed in Kryvyj Rih and the overall death toll reached at least eight, with dozens more injured. President Zelensky repeated appeals for additional Patriot‑type air‑defence systems as Ukrainian air‑defences struggled to intercept the high‑speed ballistic missiles.
