In Spain, the event is expected to draw up to 6 million visitors, generating approximately 342 million euros in expenditure. Furthermore, analysts suggest that the combination of large crowds, disorientation from sudden light changes, and collective suggestion may increase vulnerability to theft and other criminal activities.

Eye safety remains a critical priority. Spanish consumer authorities have recalled seven specific models of eclipse glasses—including brands Lionstar, ECP Eye Care Professional, Pelispan, Homanaje, Orro, Opticalia, and Mó de Multiópticas—due to injury risks. These models were flagged because their filters are excessively dark, which may cause users to remove or shift the glasses, leading to direct radiation exposure and irreversible retinal damage.

In response, the Community of Madrid implemented a special medical protocol for August 12 and 13, deploying ophthalmology specialists to emergency departments. Medical experts warn that symptoms of solar retinopathy, such as dark spots or blurred vision, may not manifest until 4 to 12 hours after exposure.
