Salina Turda has initiated a major tourism development project in Romania. Initially, the facility secured a 74.7 million lei loan from Banca Transilvania to fund the modernization of its treatment base and the arrangement of Mina Iosif.
The scope of the expansion has been detailed as a project valued at approximately 25.3 million euros (over 126 million lei). The development focuses on transforming the 10,000-square-meter Mina Iosif space, also known as the ‘Echo Chamber’, into a multi-functional underground hub for sports, relaxation, and wellness.
Key infrastructure improvements include the excavation of a new gallery through the salt massif to connect Mina Iosif with Mina Terezia, as well as the installation of panoramic elevators. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2029, with the salt mine remaining open to visitors throughout the process.
