Samajwadi Party and BJP political conflict in Uttar Pradesh

Political tensions in Uttar Pradesh have intensified between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the management of the Ram Temple. Initially, SP President Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of misusing religious faith and temple funds for political purposes, describing certain donations as ‘money of BJP’s sin’.

As the situation progressed, Yadav claimed that administrative and financial controversies surrounding the temple management had dealt a “major blow to faith,” following a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe. During this period, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust appointed new leadership, including retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra as CEO.

The conflict has further expanded into a digital dispute ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Both parties have exchanged accusations regarding the use of AI-generated videos to spread misleading narratives, with the SP targeting the government over donation irregularities and the BJP accusing the SP of using digital content to insult Hindu traditions and saints.
