San Marino workplace safety and labor law developments
Overview
San Marino is advancing legislative and international commitments regarding workplace safety and the prevention of harassment. The Grand and General Council prepared to discuss a bill aimed at combating violence and harassment in the workplace, which includes provisions allowing employees to resign for just cause to escape abusive environments.
Concurrently, the nation officially ratified International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions No. 155 and No. 187. These conventions focus on preventing occupational injuries and diseases and establishing permanent systems for continuous safety improvements. Following this ratification, the CSdL has called for the modernization of the country’s safety framework, noting that current regulations have not been updated since 1998.
