Sanatan Hindu Ekta Rath Yatra in Madhya Pradesh

Overview

The Sanatan Hindu Ekta Rath Yatra 3.0, led by Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham, commenced on October 11 in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. The 500-kilometer procession was scheduled to traverse five districts in the Bundelkhand region, including Panna, Damoh, Sagar, and Tikamgarh. To manage the large crowds and hundreds of vehicles, local police deployed 500 personnel alongside drones and CCTV surveillance.

Participants were asked to take seven pledges, which included declaring India a Hindu nation, eliminating casteism, and preventing illegal religious conversions.

By October 14, the journey concluded. During the pilgrimage, Shastri emphasized social reforms, specifically calling for a ‘drug-free, great India’ and urging the Madhya Pradesh government to consider banning liquor shops. The yatra also addressed religious identity; Shastri advised women to be cautious of social media influences regarding ‘love jihad,’ stating, ‘Become Durga, become Kali, but never become a woman in a burqa.’
