Zimbabwe hosted the 19th Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe Tourism Expo in Masvingo from September 9 to 12, 2026. During the expo, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi emphasized tourism as a driver for economic transformation and inclusive growth. The influx of nearly 140 international buyers from nations such as Russia, Australia, and Pakistan highlighted a critical shortage of local accommodation, leading the Minister to call for increased investment in hotels and lodges.

To support long-term growth and diversify tourism beyond traditional hubs, the government is working to align the sector with the national Vision 2030 goal by organizing it into 13 sub-clusters. Additionally, officials introduced plans for an annual September sports tourism carnival in Masvingo to encourage year-round travel and regional spending.
