Several municipalities are nearing or have already exceeded the 90% target set by the national sanitation legal framework for 2033. This expansion is being driven by investments from Sanesul and a public-private partnership with Ambiental MS Pantanal, supporting Governor Eduardo Riedel’s priority to accelerate national sanitation goals. As of September 2026, six municipalities in the Três Lagoas region—Bataguassu, Brasilândia, Ribas do Rio Pardo, Santa Rita do Pardo, Selvíria, and Três Lagoas—have achieved 99% sewage coverage. This milestone exceeds the 90% service target for collection and treatment established by the Legal Framework for Basic Sanitation. The high coverage rates in Três Lagoas and Ribas do Rio Pardo are particularly notable as they are located within the ‘Vale da Celulose’, a region undergoing significant industrial expansion due to large-scale pulp and paper projects. Sanesul CEO Renato Marcílio stated these investments “protect public health, preserve environmental assets, and support regional economic development and growth.” Additionally, Bonito and Caracol reached 99% sewage coverage as of September 2026, a figure that Sanesul reports coverage, significantly exceeds exceeding the Brazilian national average of 56.7%. In Bonito, a new R$ 1.5 million sewage pumping station project valued at R$ 1.5 million has been contracted to serve for the Solar dos Lagos I neighborhood and Rua Nossa Senhora Aparecida, with a nine-month execution timeline. Efforts continue to extend networks to the Parque das Palmeiras and Palmeira Velha neighborhoods.
