Santa Catarina public safety training and recruitment
Overview
Public safety institutions in Santa Catarina have implemented new training, graduation, and recruitment programs.
The Military Police of Santa Catarina (PMSC) recently graduated 948 temporary soldiers following a 16-week training program conducted by the Superior School of Training and Improvement of Enlisted Personnel (ESFAP). The ceremony, held at the Military Police Academy of Trindade in Florianópolis, included over 550 hours of instruction. These officers, who may serve for up to eight years, include 27 personnel assigned to the 12th Military Police Battalion to support tourism policing and crime prevention in Balneário Camboriú and Camboriú ahead of the summer season.
To further expand its force, the PMSC has opened applications for 500 Soldier positions, including 25 vacancies reserved for people with disabilities. Candidates must hold a higher education degree, be between 18 and 30 years of age, and possess a valid driver's license. The recruitment process, organized by Instituto AOCP, includes an objective exam and essay scheduled for December 13, 2026.
Simultaneously, the Military Firefighters Corps of Santa Catarina (CBMSC) graduated its first ‘Bombeiro Mirim’ class adapted for students with disabilities. This pilot project in the Carbonífera region, specifically in Orleans, involved 45 students from the Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional (Apae). The program utilized a restructured, visual, and playful curriculum to teach accident prevention and first aid to students with physical and intellectual disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum.
