Santander-backed free education initiatives
Entities: Santander Open Academy · Victoria Zuasti · Shivangi Gupta · Banco Santander · British Council
Overview
In early July, Spain announced an expansion of its free education program, with Santander’s initiative reaching 45,000 participants and new adult‑learning courses introduced in Extremadura.
Later that month, the British Council partnered with Santander to launch a second round of the Santander | British Council English Online programme, providing more than 10,000 fully funded spots for adult learners across 12 countries, including Portugal, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the United States, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. The rollout illustrates a scaling of Santander‑supported free‑learning offerings from a national Spanish focus to a broader international online English‑language effort.
