Saudi Arabia cybersecurity capacity building

Overview

Saudi Arabia has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen its national cybersecurity posture through specialized training and public awareness.

In late August 2026, the Centre of Excellence for Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity, in collaboration with Saudi Aramco and the Global Cybersecurity Forum, held a four-day hackathon in Dhahran. The event involved approximately 40 teams of researchers and specialists working to address security challenges in critical infrastructure sectors, including water, power, and oil and gas.

Following this, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, working with the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA), launched a mobile cybersecurity awareness exhibition. This initiative utilized interactive pavilions and live simulations of cyberattacks to build a “high level of cyber culture” among ministry employees and mitigate digital risks.
