Saudi Arabian airport infrastructure expansion

Overview

Saudi Arabian aviation infrastructure is undergoing significant expansion to meet the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

In Dammam, Dammam Airports has entered a design contract with WSP Middle East and Asia to expand King Fahd International Airport. The project focuses on upgrading passenger terminals, baggage handling, and digital services, with long-term targets to accommodate up to 32 million passengers annually and increase air cargo capacity.

In Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport has begun the phased operational rollout of Terminal 4. The 97,000-square-meter facility, which has an annual capacity of 15 million passengers, includes specialized facilities for Hajj and Umrah pilgrim group check-ins.

Operations at the new terminal commenced on September 27, 2026, involving the relocation of international airlines from the North Terminal, Terminal 1, and the Hajj and Umrah Terminals. The relocation schedule began with Wizz Air, AJet, and SalamAir, followed by Fly Jinnah and Nesma Airlines on September 28, Akasa Air on September 29, SyrianAir and Pegasus on October 1, and Azerbaijan Airlines and Tunisair on October 3. This expansion supports the airport’s objective to serve over 90 million passengers annually by 2030.
