On September 12, 2026, at least 192 workers at the Scavi Hue textile company in Phong Dien, Hue, were hospitalized following a suspected mass food poisoning incident. Patients experienced symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, with initial diagnoses suggesting acute gastroenteritis. As of September 13, 172 patients were being treated at Hue Central Hospital Facility 2 and 20 at the Phong Dien Medical Center. While 11 individuals were discharged, 181 remained under medical observation in stable condition. The Hue Department of Health suspended catering services provided by Hue Thanh Co., Ltd., which operated the company’s collective kitchen, pending an investigation.
