Overview

In late August 2026, a 14-year-old student at Escuela Congreso in San Miguel de Tucumán discharged a .38 caliber revolver during a history lesson. While the projectile hit a wall and caused no injuries, video footage showed the student loading the weapon. In mid-September 2026, a similar incident occurred at the Instituto Jesús María Plaza in La Matanza. A 15-year-old student accidentally discharged a .32 caliber revolver after dropping a backpack containing the weapon. No injuries were reported. The student’s mother claimed she was unaware of the firearm, which likely belonged to the boy's father. Prosecutor Marcelo Germinario has charged the teenager with illegal possession of a civilian weapon.
