SDRF rescue operations in Uttarakhand

Overview

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has conducted multiple rescue operations in the Uttarakhand region during periods of high water levels and heavy rain.

In Haridwar, an SDRF constable rescued a 23-year-old pilgrim from the fast-flowing Ganga River during the Kanwar Yatra. Following the incident, the SDRF issued safety warnings to pilgrims regarding the risks of bathing in the river during large religious gatherings.

In a separate incident near Rishikesh, SDRF personnel rescued two men after their vehicle overturned in the swollen Bin River. The rescue was complicated by darkness, torrential rain, and strong currents after the vehicle was swept downstream and became lodged against a dam. Both individuals were successfully extracted and taken to a hospital.
