SeABank profit target reduction and leadership changes
Overview
Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank) has adjusted its 2026 business plan, approving a 15% reduction in its pre-tax profit target to 6,008 billion VND. This adjustment, representing a decrease of approximately 1,060 billion VND, is intended to align with Vietnamese government and State Bank of Vietnam directives to support economic growth and ease difficulties for businesses.
To facilitate this, the bank is reducing annual deposit interest rates by 0.5 to 0.7 percentage points for terms of six months or longer. The bank aims to prioritize credit for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), green projects, and businesses with sound financial foundations. The bank noted these measures prioritize “growth quality and customer support over rapid expansion.”
Concurrently, the bank is undergoing a leadership transition. The Board of Directors elected Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy as the new Chairwoman for the 2023–2028 term, effective October 22, 2026. Additionally, the Board accepted the resignation of Mr. Le Van Tan as Chairman, with plans to submit documentation to the State Bank of Vietnam to appoint him as the new General Director, succeeding Mr. Le Quoc Long.
