Seattle Kraken organizational and competitive updates

In late September 2026, the Seattle Kraken announced a new regional broadcast plan for the 2026–27 season via the Kraken Hockey Network (KHN). The plan involves producing 77 games to be distributed through local free over-the-air television stations and Prime Video, covering Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.

By October 2026, the team's focus shifted to active competition. On October 11, 2026, the Kraken defeated the Washington Capitals 5-3 at Capital One Arena, improving their season record to 4-2-0. Seattle's scoring was led by Kaapo Kakko, Jordan Eberle, Frederick Gaudreau, Jared McCann, and Ryan Winterton. McCann scored the decisive goal with 5:27 remaining in the third period. Goaltender Joey Daccord recorded 33 saves during the win.

Despite the loss, the game marked a milestone for Washington's Alex Ovechkin, who scored his first goal of the season, representing his 930th career goal. The goal was assisted by brothers Aliaksei and Ilya Protas. In recognition of the achievement, the 9:30 Club in Washington presented Ovechkin with lifetime access to the venue. Washington's scoring was led by Jordan Kyrou and Boone Jenner, and the Capitals dropped to a 3-2-0 record following the defeat.
