Security and oversight measures in Mexico and Peru

Overview

In the Central Region of Coahuila, Mexico, educational authorities have introduced enhanced security and emotional support protocols for schools, specifically targeting secondary students following incidents in Torreón. New measures include stricter access controls, such as closing gates by 8:00 AM, and increased patrols in coordination with municipal security. Teachers are also receiving training to identify mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and bullying to facilitate referrals to specialized agencies.

In Puno, Peru, the Manuel Núñez Butrón Regional Hospital has installed 16 360-degree surveillance cameras to increase staff oversight. This decision follows an incident involving personnel allegedly found in a state of intoxication. The 24-hour surveillance system is intended to prevent future misconduct and provide evidence for investigations by the National Police of Peru.
